Balkan Supplementary Education Project (BSEP) is a Voluntary organisation set up in November 2014. It has taken as its foundation, the principle that nature makes us similar, but the education is what makes us different, as illustrated in the words of Confucius.

The organisation has adopted "BSEP" as its Logo - Balkan Supplementary Education Project Ltd. and it addresses the Eastern European, mainly Romanian, students.

"EDUCATION IS, MOST OF THE TIMES, THE SURFACE UNDER WHICH QUIETLY, SILENTLY, DEVELOPS ONES TRUE SELF" Nicolae Iorga

BSEP is an independent organisation established to meet the educational needs of children and young people from East European backgrounds in East London, as well as undertaking activities that help to facilitate and empower children and parents.

The organisation is a Social Enterprise – Company Limited by Guarantee, Registration Number 9314351, with a Company Secretary and Directors, that was founded in November 2014 and is dedicated to engaging and challenging the educational path of young East European students, mostly Romanians, and help them improve their school performance.

What BSEP Does:
  • BSEP provides tutorials in English, Maths, and Science to young people, as well as engaging them in Homework & Home Tuition programmes. Sessions are held every Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
  • We act as an intermediary between the schools of young people and their parents, engage in monitoring their work and achievements, and offer counselling to enhance behavioural attitude towards teacher/pupil relationship and learning.
  • BSEP provides information, advice sessions to parents and families on their responsibilities and roles in their children’s education, home learning support resources and materials that will help enhance the capacity of the children to engage in meaningful learning.
  • We run weekend school activities for children aged 4 to 17, that attend the British Primary and Secondary schools. We offer tuition to Eastern European  children, mostly Romanians, in order to improve their school performance and to help them integrate and understand better the British school system and culture and in the same time benefit from being with same culture piers and teachers; in this way we aim to help young children understand where they come from and be proud of their Romanian  Heritage. Understanding ones heritage is the prize that emerges from traditional Romanian story telling and games, Romanian History & Films, Traditional Dances & songs; and most importantly engaging in historical visits to Romania.

The Network provides support to Parents and the Communities in areas of raising educational awareness and standards that allows them to play active roles in schools and school work.
